(For schools where students use Chromebooks)
Why should Google Translate and Google Lens be blocked?
To ensure a completely secure exam environment when students take tests in the browser on their Chromebooks, locked down by Trelson Browser Lockdown, certain built-in features in Google Chrome must be disabled at the domain level. Trelson Browser Lockdown can lock the browser, but Google does not allow third-party extensions to block some of their own integrated services. This means that students, even during a locked exam, can:
- Use Google Translate: Right-click text to translate it directly in the browser.
- Use Google Lens: Perform image-based searches and view previews of search results.
To prevent this, a Google administrator in your domain must disable these services for the students taking exams.

Alternative solution: Trelson Kiosk app
If you do not wish to disable Google Lens in the Google Admin Console, we recommend that teachers only conduct exams and assignments using the Trelson Kiosk app instead of the Trelson Browser Lockdown extension, where Google Lens and Google Translate cannot be used by students regardless of admin settings.
