If your organization currently integrates Trelson with a Google domain and you wish to migrate to Microsoft 365 instead, do not follow these steps without first contacting our support team. As of June 2025, Trelson can integrate with either Google for Education or Microsoft 365 for Education — but not both at the same time. Learn more here.
In order to install and activate Trelson within your Microsoft 365 domain, it is required that the person performing the installation has the authorization as 'Global Admin' in your Microsoft domain.
By installing the application, you agree to our Trelson Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
Step 1: Install Trelson Teacher for your Microsoft 365 domain
By following the steps below, you enable and configure Trelson Teacher in your Microsoft 365 domain. This is required for teachers and administrators to get started and use Trelson.
Follow these steps:
-
Authorize the application: Visit https://assessment.trelson.com/teacher/ms/auth and click 'Authenticate with Microsoft'. Log in with your Global Admin account.
-
Grant permissions: You will be asked to grant the Trelson enterprise application access to your organization. Approve the request to continue.
-
Log in as teacher: After granting access, click 'Sign in with Microsoft' and sing in again with your Global Admin account. A popup will notify you that no organizations have been created yet. Only the Global Admin can create organizations.
-
Create organization(s): Set up one or multiple organizations. We recommend creating one organization per school if you manage multiple schools. If you only have one, simply create that one.
-
Manage roles: Once the organization(s) are created, you can grant teachers, invigilators, and staff access by using Manage roles in the left-hand menu. Until this is done, the only account with access is the Global Admin who created the organization(s). You can add staff manually by email or assign roles via Microsoft groups/teams.
Step 2: Grant student access
For students to be able to use Trelson, the Global Admin must authorize the student application.
- Visit https://app.trelson.com/student and log in with your Global Admin account.
-
Grant access to the application, making sure to check the option Consent on behalf of your organization".
Step 3: Managing licenses
When your first organization is created in Trelson, you are automatically granted three free licenses. If you require more licenses, there are two options:
- Purchase via invoicing: Contact your Trelson representative, your third-party provider, or email support@trelson.com to have licenses assigned to your organization.
- Purchase via credit card: An Administrator in your Trelson organization can manage subscriptions directly through the Subscription page in the left-hand navigation, entering the required number of licenses for the school/organization.
Licensing model: Trelson licensing is based solely on student usage. One license is valid for one year and is tied to a specific student. A license is consumed the first time a student submits an exam or assignment. After that, the student may submit an unlimited number of times without using additional licenses.
Uninstalling Trelson
If you need to uninstall the application, you can manage it through Microsoft Entra:
- Go to Microsoft Entra.
- Locate both Trelson Teacher and Trelson Student applications (located in left hand menu under Enterprise apps).
- Open the Properties section and click on Delete. This will remove login access for users in your organization.
If you also wish to permanently delete all organizations and user data in Trelson, please contact support@trelson.com. The request must come from an IT administrator authorized to request data deletion.
