In Trelson, students have access to a feature called "split view." This feature allows them to have the workspace on the left and the resource (document, website, calculator, or other) on the right. This facilitates students' work by eliminating the need to switch between different tabs.
However, sometimes the split view icon may disappear. Here are some possible causes and solutions:
1. Screen size
On some screens, the split view icon may disappear depending on the screen size. This problem can be solved by adjusting the zoom level on the screen.
- Solution: Ask the student to press Ctrl + to zoom in, or Ctrl - to zoom out. Doing this usually makes the split view icon reappear.
2. Focus (ChromeOS) as security client
When working with Focus as a security client (a secure browser extension) and adding websites and digital platforms, these often open in a new browser tab. Therefore, split view in Trelson is not always an option.
- Solution: When students are working on the task in the browser, they can split the screen themselves by pulling the tabs into two separate windows. This way, they still get the effect of split view.
3. Using an iPad
If students are writing their assignment on an iPad, be aware that the iPad app does not support split view. This is because the screen size is often limited.
- Solution: Unfortunately, there is no direct solution for this issue on an iPad. Students may need to use another device that supports split view.
