Assignment templates are pre-configured settings for exams or tasks created by administrators in your organization.
Templates may include:
- Resources: Pre-loaded materials, such as reference documents or files.
- Questions: Pre-written exam or assignment questions.
- Writing spaces: Areas where students can write their answers.
- Specific settings: Adjustments such as time limits, PIN codes, or submission rules.
- Administrators determine which parts of the template can be edited by teachers. Some sections may be "locked" to ensure that all exams created with the template are consistent.
Templates are especially useful for national or high-stakes exams where it is important that all students take the same version of the test, regardless of teacher or class.
Step-by-Step: Create an Assignment from a Template

- Add a Google Classroom group.
4. Add more teachers
If other teachers need to co-manage the assignment, you can add them in the Teachers tab.
5. Optional editing
If allowed by the administrator, you can add resources or modules to the assignment.
